Featured Restaurant: Dinersty

Usual chinese fast-food fair with a sampling of more exotic dishes, but the unbeatable lunch specials, convenient location, and quick service have made it a staple for downtowners.

- ALE - December 10th, 2001

Ali Baba lies in the bustling student area around State Street and Packard, sharing competition with such establishments as Mr. Spot's. Like many of the restaurants in that area, Ali Baba delivers food to your house, although at a much higher cost than most.

Ali Baba serves up wholesome, traditional Middle Eastern dishes, that taste good enough to make up for the lack of originality. While they are open until 10 PM every day, their delivery hours vary and are sometimes sporadic. Usually, delivery ends at 9 PM, although sometimes they stop earlier, for no apparent reason.

Their menu ranges from full dinners to lighter sandwiches and salads, offering something for everyone.

While Ali Baba certainly is not a bad restaurant, to someone spoiled by the Middle Eastern food of the Metro Detroit area it comes as a bit of a disappointment.
